Elections

Student Government elections are held in the Spring and Fall of each year. The Executive Branch and Senators (by College) are elected in the Spring. In the Fall, Senators are elected according to living areas (on campus, off campus and family housing). 

50 Senators representing the various residence halls and zip codes surround the University of Florida are elected in the Fall. The Student Body President, Vice President, Treasurer, and 50 Senators representing the various academic colleges are elected in the Spring. All officials elected serve for a one year term. Voting takes place for two days at various polling locations on campus. Student must have a photo ID to vote and know their UF ID number or have their Gator 1 card. If you have any questions you can contact the Supervisor of Elections or the SG Office on the 3rd level of the Reitz Union.

To qualify to run in the elections, a student must fill out the appropriate forms with the Supervisor of Elections.

FALL 2017 ELECTIONS

Senators are elected according to living areas: on campus, off campus, or family housing.


August 24th: Political Party Registration, 9AM (SG Office)

August 29th: Informational Meeting, 6:30 p.m. (Reitz Union, Ground Level, Senate Chamber)

August 31st: Qualifying and Slating, 8AM-8PM. (Reitz Union, Level 3, Room 3315)

September 1st: Qualifying and Slating, 8AM-5PM. (Reitz Union, Level 3, Room 3315)
September 5th: Qualifying and Slating, 8AM-5PM. (Reitz Union, Level 3, Room 3315)
September 7th:  Mandatory Meeting for Candidates, 8 p.m. (Reitz Union, Ground Level, Senate Chamber). All Mandatory Meeting excuse forms due to the SG Office before Noon.
September 13th: Absentee Ballot Requests must be submitted prior to 5 p.m.

September 26th: SG Elections, 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
September 27th: SG Elections, 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

All write-in candidates must notify SOE of their candidacy prior to 8:30PM.
